According to the blog, migration, cost, data storage, maintenance and updates, availability and speed are the factors that need to be considered while choosing the sharepoint version for organisation or business. In migration point, blog explains that while migrating from sharepoint on premises to online more preparation is needed. While considering cost points, sharepoint requires more maintenance. Sharepoint on-premises cost depends on the number of servers and their licenses cost. Sharepoint online cost is based on a monthly subscription basis.
