Six of the 30 clubs that make up Major League Baseball have yet to win the World Series.
The World Series is Major League Baseball’s annual championship series, which is played between the winners of the American League and the National League. The inaugural World Series was held in 1903, with the victorious team receiving the Commissioner’s Trophy.
The World Series is determined by a best-of-seven playoff, with the winner being the first club to win four games. Every year in October, the World Series, also known as the Fall Classic, takes place.
24 of the 30 current MLB organizations have won the World Series at some time in their existence. This leaves six teams without baseball championship rings for sell.
Texas Rangers
The Washington Senators were founded in 1961 and relocated to Arlington in 1972 when they have renamed the Rangers. The Rangers didn’t make the playoffs during the first 25 years of their existence in either incarnation, finally making it in 1996.
Tampa Bay Rays
The most recent of five Fall Classic berths occurred in 2020 when the Rays won their second AL pennant after securing a Wild Card slot and defeating the Blue Jays, Yankees, and Astros.
Seattle Mariners
The Mariners are not just the only current organization that has never won the World Series, but they are also the only team that has never been in the Fall Classic. Since their inception in 1977, the Seahawks have only made the playoffs four times, all of which occurred between 1995 and 2001.
San Diego Padres
The Padres, who were founded in 1969, have won two National League pennants in their existence, in 1984 and 1998. They were swept in the World Series on both occasions, falling 4-1 to the Detroit Tigers in 1984 and then again for 3-0 to the New York Yankees in 1998.
Milwaukee Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers began as the Seattle Pilots in 1969, entering the league as an AL expansion team before relocating to Milwaukee the following year. Milwaukee, which is now a member of the National League, has only made the playoffs seven times in their history, with a single World Series trip in 1982.
Colorado Rockies
The Rockies have only made the playoffs five times since their inception as an expansion team in 1993, and they are one of just two organizations that have never won a division title. Their first World Series participation occurred in 2007 when they secured a Wild Card slot with a 90-73 record.
But, fans need not worry, they can definitely buy replica MLB championship ring and wait for one of the six teams to win it in the future.
