Isn’t it all about the glitter in sports?
In October 2021, the Milwaukee Bucks were presented with their basketball championship ring for the 2020-21 NBA season. The Bucks’ rings are no exception to the trend of more ornate rings.
The rings, designed by Beverly Hills jeweler Jason, have 360 diamonds, 4.14 carats of emeralds, and a QR code that can be scanned to see a sequence of season highlights.
Here are some of the other outstanding championship rings we’ve lately seen.
2016 Cleveland Cavaliers
You had to know the rings would be unique if LeBron James returned to The Land and won the franchise’s lone title.
The rings were made up of 216 diamonds apiece, symbolizing the Cleveland area code, and were created by Kay Jewelers and Baron Championship Rings. The Cleveland skyline ran the length of the left side of the ring. The Detroit-Superior Bridge is also included on that side, with the number 52 beneath it commemorating the team’s 52-year title drought.
The bottom of the ring had seven diamonds, one for each of the finals’ seven games. In addition, the team’s total victories and defeats were symbolized by wine-colored garnets and white diamonds, respectively.
2018 Golden State Warriors
You could put the Warriors’ 2015 or 2017 rings on here as well, but we’ll settle with just one for the time being.
The twist-off function is the most distinctive element of Golden State’s 2018 championship rings. The participants were a bit greedy and couldn’t decide whether they wanted a blue or white face for the ring, so Beverly Hills designer Jason’s came up with a solution:
• a twist-off
• changeable face with either 74 white diamonds or 74 blue sapphires
• signifying the number of overall victories
