- List showcases celebrities and influencers who have shown they are beautiful on the inside too, by making the biggest impact in rescuing dogs in past year.
- Game of Thrones’s Emilia Clarke second, John Wick 3 star Keanu Reeves third.
- Top ten estimated by experts to have inspired over 145,000 dogs to be rescued around the world in the past 12 months.
Movie star Tom Hardy has been voted the World’s Hottest Dog Lover 2019 – the stylish celebrity or influencer who loves dogs and has made a difference to rescue dogs – at the Dog Rescue Awards, in association with rehoming charity, K-9 Angels.
The movie star campaigned for people to adopt rescue animals rather than buy puppies, as well as advocated for responsible ownership. His campaigning is estimated to have directly rehomed over 500 dogs, and inspired a further 8,000+ dog rescues around the globe by educating viewers on the benefits of pet adoption.
Second placed on the list was Emilia Clarke for her Game of Bones rehoming appeal, followed by John Wick 3’s Keanu Reeves.
The judges were leading dog rescue experts and estimated the top ten are jointly responsible for rehoming over 145,000 dogs this past year.
Charity spokesperson Victoria Featherstone Pearce said: “Every day we share the message about adopt and don’t shop for your pets, but when celebrities and influencers get involved the world listens. Afterall, what’s hotter than someone who gives a voice to those without one?
“Tom, Emilia, Keanu and the rest of the top ten are all beautiful on the outside, but have shown they’re even more beautiful on the inside by making such an incredible difference to the lives of hundreds of thousands of dogs needing homes this year, and are very worthy of their top billing.”
