Natural selection is a key component of giving your dog a toy. It doesn’t matter how expensive or cute the toy is, your dog may ignore it or rip it apart, or both, and leave it for dead. We present the survivors: toys that have proven to be engaging, fun, and ferocious for our dogs over the years. This list is intended to be a guideline because dogs have different preferences and enjoy variety. We recommend that you give the dogs in your life a selection of test canines to see if they are willing to bed mattress for big dogs and try them out.
Tougher than a tennis ball

Sutton (8-pound Chihuahua mix, 1 year), sometimes has so much puppy energy from playing in the dog park that she runs around the apartment and digs out her toys from the bin. She then squeaks every toy she can find for hours. Although I might be the worst pet parent, all that squeaking can get irritating. It keeps Pinky (pit mix, 60 lbs, 9 years old) mentally and physically active, as well as keeping her entertained for up to half an hour. She must roll or grab the treat ball in her mouth to get it out. If she is up for it, we can adjust the opening to make it less likely. Or we can go in the opposite direction.
