This troublesome and painful occurrence may seem alarming is actually a common occurrence, in fact a good number of women tend to develop piles during pregnancy.The most common times hemorrhoids develop during pregnancy is in your third trimester and during and immediately after childbirth.
When you’re pregnant, piles can occur because hormones make your veins relax, along with that the volume of blood circulating around your body increases. Soon enough the uterus gets bigger during pregnancy, the pressure it puts on veins can cause them to swell, leading to piles or hemorrhoids. So what exactly are piles?Piles are basically swollen veins in the anus and rectum, they are very common during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester when the enlarged uterus puts pressure on the veins. So don’t worry it is a perfectly normal occurrence and nothing to be worried or strained about.What really must be bothering you though, is how soon you will be freed from this discomfort.For some women hemorrhoids may disappear completely after pregnancy and delivery without any treatment as your hormone levels, blood volume, and intra-abdominal pressure decrease after delivery. However if you have had piles before you became pregnant, you may get them again. Plenty of women, though, have them for the first time while they’re pregnant. Although piles are the most common cause of bleeding, and any bleeding from your bottom should be checked by your doctor. So while the causes of your hemorrhoids may be unique to pregnancy, we still advise getting them checked to stay on the safer side.
