Fans can try something new in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, but some of their favorite Pokemon from Kanto are also back.
With the release of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, the amazing world of Pokemon is once again on everyone’s mind. The game takes place in Paldea, and there are more than 100 new Pokemon to catch, collect, and fight with. With its new features, the game looks like it will be a great addition to the series.
Along with the new Pokemon, hundreds of the old ones are also coming back. Some of the original 151 Pokemon from the Kanto Region are among them. Some of the new features of Scarlet and Violet have been added to these Pokemon to make them different and better.
Dragonite
In Scarlet & Violet, the original “almost legendary” Pokemon is back. Dragonite is a fan favorite, and it’s great to see it back in Generation 9 after it was cut from Pokemon Sword & Shield and not available in Pokemon Legends Arceus.
Dragonite’s first pre-evolution, Dratini, can be found in Casseroya Lake after you learn how to swim. At level 30, it can evolve into Dragonair, and at level 55, it can evolve into the magnificent dragon. Later on in the game, players can find special Dragonites with unique Tera types, which they should try to get.
Gyarados
Gyarados is back! The water type seems to be in every game in the series, but we don’t mind because it’s a very strong Pokemon that’s easy to get. Its first form, Magikarp, can be found everywhere in Paldea. To get Gyarados in Scarlet & Violet, catch a Magikarp and make it evolve.
It’s a Pokemon that has stood the test of time because of how strong and recognizable it is. Its attack stat of 125 makes it a threat, and it will once again be the go-to water type for many gamers. Gyarados can be found in the seas around Paldea, so fans could skip training a Magikarp and go straight to the water/flying type.
Scyther
Scyther looks like a giant praying mantis with big scythes for hands. It is one of the best bug types in the Pokemon series, and Scarlet & Violet is glad to have it.
Scyther is a must-catch Pokemon because of its high attack (110) and speed (105) stats. Scyther is a bug/flying type Pokemon that can evolve into Scizor, which was introduced in Generation 2, if it is traded with a metal coat. However, Scyther is already a very strong Pokemon, so it doesn’t need to evolve. In Pokemon Legends, Arceus Scyther could evolve into a Kleavor, but that feature is not in this game.
Jigglypuff
Jigglypuff is back, but this time in a surprising way. One of the most famous Pokemon in the series, fans will remember how the pink ball of fluff put Ash and his friends to sleep and then drew on them several times in the anime. But in this game, Jigglypuff is different in an interesting way.
During the “Way Home” storyline in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, paradox forms are shown for the first time. In Scarlet, fans meet Pokemon from the past, and in Violet, they meet Pokemon from the future. A Jigglypuff Scream Tail is an ancient fairy/physical relative of the Kanto Pokemon that is wild and wild at heart. At this point in the game, we don’t know much about the paradox Pokemon, but they seem interesting.
Mankey
Mankey is a Pokemon that doesn’t get used very often. Scarlet & Violet gives it a new lease on life by adding a new evolution. Still, Mankey changes into Primeape, but then it can change into Annihilape. A fighting and ghost type that Primeape can get after using Rage Fist 20 times and getting a level up.
Paldea has three places where you can find Mankey: South Province Area One, South Province Area Five, and West Province Area One. Make sure to catch one and let it evolve so you can see how it changes in the game.
Tauros
Tauros was in the first game, which came out in 1996, and fans have been asking for it to evolve ever since. It still hasn’t evolved, but it has gotten a new type and a form to go with it. The Paldean version of Tauros has a new black color scheme that looks better than its original design. It also has a new type called “pure fighting.”
In Scarlet, you can catch a “blaze breed,” which is a fire/fighting type. In Octordle, you can find an aqua breed that is better than the original 151 Tauros in both water and battle.
Gengar
Back in Pokemon Red and Blue, this ghost type was the only one of its kind, but now there are hundreds of ghost types in Pokemon. Gengar is still one of the most used and most well-known ghosts in the series. Gengar is one of the best and strongest Kanto Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet. Its design is simple, but it looks great. It has 130 special attack and 110 speed.
Ghastly can be found in different parts of Paldea, but only at night. Then, at level 25, it can evolve into a Haunter, which can then be traded for a Gengar. It might be hard to do that last step, but it’s worth it for this powerful Pokemon that gives off poison gas.
Diglett
Gamefreak seems to be obsessed with Diglett in an odd way lately. In Sun and Moon, it had a version from a certain region that had more hair and was a steel type.
Diglett is back for Generation 9, but it looks very different now. The game has a new Pokemon called Wiglett. It is a water type Pokémon that looks a lot like Diglett. However, it has nothing to do with the Generation 1 ground type. Diglett can be found in several places in Paldea, but you might be better off going after its new double, Wiglett.
Magnemite
Pokémon with original designs like Magnemite, Magneton, and Magnezone from Generation 4 are back in Scarlet & Violet. It looks much better now that it has a shiny metal coating in this new game.
Like Jigglypuff or “Scream Tail,” Magneton, which evolves from Magnemite, has a Paradox Pokemon version called Sandy Shocks. Sandy Shocks is an electric/ground type Pokemon that is an ancient ancestor of Magneton. The Magnemite line gets new life from these changes, and it will be used more in the new game for sure.
Pikachu
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet was always going to have Pikachu in it, and the franchise’s mascot was never going to be left out.
Fans who pre-ordered the game would get a special Pikachu that can fly and has a flying tera type.
This is a great change to Pikachu, and with the Pokemon Home, players can keep all their special Pikachu in one place. Can more than one Pikachu be used to beat the game? If a player is lucky enough to get this one, it might be possible.
Right now, you can get Pokemon Scarlet and Violet on Switch.
