Industrial Safety Training

Safety is something that is relative freedom from loss, injury, risk, hazard or fatal and confined space is something which is closed or partially closed space or condition with unusual atmosphere and not designed or intended for human occupancy. Tanks, vessel, trenches, shafts, boilers, any excavations more than four feet deep is also considered as confined space.

Confined spaces are classified into two types such as confined space and non permit to work confined space. Non permit to work safety confined spaces are those which has no hazardous atmosphere and with low risk which is at acceptable level.

Before going for the task  Hazard Identification are to be carried out and no one shall enter into a confined space unless there is a standard system of work in place that have been planned, organised, implemented and regularly monitored, maintained so as to render that work safe and without risk to health. All the entrants of the confined space must be provided with information of the task to be carried out.

the industrial sector safety is a very precious and important aspect of an Industry or Factory, as an accident or injury free workplace environment will generate a positive morale among the employees working in hazardous situations. By recognizing all the facts as industries involving various hazards and risks, they prepare their own safety policy, safety manuals, safety procedures and safety management systems considering national laws. Industries/Factories have a separate department or section which deals specially with safety so as to create awareness and importance

The word safety means nothing but the relative freedom from loss, injury,  hazard or fatal and work at refers to any work above 1.8 meter from the ground surface is considered as work at height as for examples working on a ladder, working near or adjacent to fragile materials, working at ground level adjacent to an excavation, working on rooftop of building and the involved will have a potential to fall and injure themselves.

Initially carry out RA for the work at height activities and make sure that all the tasks is properly planned, organised and carried out by a competent person and these risk assessments should include a careful examination of what loss could be caused from working at heights and what hazards could be involved in the task with this view taking the effective steps to reduce the likelihood of the loss occurring, either by avoiding the task or avoiding only when the risk is not reasonably practicable and in that case carry it out in a safe manner using work equipment which are appropriate to the task and level of risk involved.

While carrying out the activity ensure that there is railing or other fall protection barricade systems in place. This provision has no need of training or other equipment as the railing will naturally help workers to keep themselves free of danger. As it is not possible for all the works at height to provide or make fall protection barricade systems available, it is very important to use job specific Personal Protective equipment’s and selection of the appropriate PPE’s such as a standard full body harnesses that meet the high quality standards despite of cost and also use of personal fall arrest systems and additionally as the task is pre planned determine what you really as per the situation and if you have a task where workers do welding at heights, then the nylon based harness will not have the heat resistance you need. Kevlar based harness which have a better resistance to heat will be suitable for the task.
