Complete Recipe of How to Make a Flame-Grilled Chicken

Here is the detailed and complete recipe of how to make a grilled chicken at your home with optimal ease.

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds bone-in, skin-on chicken parts (legs, thighs, wings, breasts)
  • Salt
  • Oregano
  • Spicy (of your choice, as per preference)
  • Extra virgin olive oil or vegetable oil
  • Homemade chilli garlic sauce, or BBQ sauce.

Preparations for Grilled Chicken

Take a chicken piece with its breast, legs, wings, and thighs. Put the cuts on the chicken until it becomes well suited for the grill. Marinate the chicken for a grill. Lightly brush some of the vegetable or virgin oil on the chicken. Take some salts, spices, and some homemade sauce. Put the mixture on the chicken. Leave for 10-15 minutes for proper marination.

Setting-up the Grill

  • Grilling is often done fast and with high heat.  Plan for the direct and high heat and initiate by preparing one side of the grill. Also go for keeping one side of the grill cooler in case you are employing wood or charcoal for this purpose.
  • Initially, to sear the skin side well, lay the chicken pieces skin side on the hotter and more Flammer side of the grill. Be very cautious, not to burn the chicken.
  • After flaming the chicken, carefully turn the chicken pieces. Then put the flamed chicken on the cooler side.
  • Move the chicken pieces to the cooler side, not directly over the flame, (in case you have a gas grill). After flaming the grilled chicken on higher heat, put it on the medium temperature.
  • Be very careful and present minded. To avoid burning the grilled chicken (or else it would get messy!)
  • Medium or lower temperature should be no more than 300°F and in between 250°F and 275°F.
  • Grill the chicken for about a good 30 minutes, to get the best flamed grill out of it.
  • Keep on changing or turning the sides of a grilled chicken (when you think it’s necessary).
  • You can brush a bit of virgin olive oil on the flamed grilled chicken, every now and then. When you feel it getting too dry?
  • To get a real crispy skin of the chicken, slightly cook it for some extra minutes (again without burning it)
  • NOTE: The smaller pieces of the chicken such as legs, wings and thighs would be done more swiftly, then the real crux which is the breast area. So, it would take some time! Bear with patience.
  • FOR SERVING: Take the hot mouth-watering flamed grilled chicken and serve it with freshly done
  • garlic sauce, salsa or even BBQ sauce.

Grilled Chicken Vs BBQ

Many folks often get confused, either grilling or Barbecued chicken is the same. Grilling chicken is done fast and hot, while the BBQ takes a slow and low heat temperature to be a final product.

  • It is wise to go for grilling the thick part of chicken, such as chicken breast for the main course. However, try barbecuing thin areas such as wings, legs, and chicken thighs.
  • In both the trick is to keep a temperature medium enough, so the chicken would not get burned.
