  1. Authentication and Non-Repudiation: Digital signatures authenticate the identity of the sender and ensure that the submitted documents come from an authorized source. How to apply Digital Signature in ICEGATE

 Select a Certifying Authority (CA): Choose a recognized Certifying Authority (CA) in India that provides Digital Signature Certificates (DSCs) compliant with the Information Technology Act, 2000. Some well-known CAs include eMudhra, Capricorn Identity Services, and (n)Code Solutions.

  1. Choose the Type of Digital Signature Certificate (DSC): Different classes of DSCs are available based on the intended usage and level of security required. For IceGate transactions, individuals or entities usually opt for Class 2 or Class 3 DSCs. Class 2 DSC is commonly used for individuals and Class 3 DSC is used for organizations.
  2. Submit Required Documents: Each CA might have specific documentation requirements. Generally, you’ll need to provide identity proof, address proof, and other necessary documents as per the CA’s guidelines.
  3. Attend Verification Process (if required): Some CAs might require physical verification of documents before issuing the DSC. This might involve a physical visit or verification by authorized personnel.
  4. Obtain the Digital Signature Certificate (DSC): Once the application and verification processes are completed, the Certifying Authority will issue the Digital Signature Certificate along with a USB token or a secure device containing the certificate.

  6. Use the Digital Signature on IceGate: Log in to the IceGate portal using your credentials and select the appropriate transaction or document that requires signing.
