India cricket team is now preparing for their second assignment for this season. The team will play their first home match against South Africa cricket team on September 15. The tour will consist of three sets of T20I, ODI, and Test matches. The scores from the Test matches will mark the Proteas’ campaign for the World Test Championship.
Team India is now considering ODI vice-captain Rohit Sharma to bat for the Test opening of the tour. Prasad said that KL Rahul’s form is one of the management’s concerns since he wasn’t able to score centuries in Test cricket.
‘As selection committee, we haven’t met after the conclusion of the West Indies tour. We will definitely take this (Rohit as an opener) point into consideration when we all meet and discuss it’, said Prasad.
The selector also said that they are trying to consider more young players in the spin bowling department of the team.
In order to bring variety in the spin bowling department, we have been trying youngsters keeping in view the T20 World Cup.’
