Benchmaster Celebrates their 45th Anniversary

First founded in 1977, Benchmaster’s 45th anniversary falls in 2022! It’s been a fantastic 45 years for the company, filled with achievements and very rich history. In honour of reaching 45 years in business, let’s talk a bit about who they are and what they do:

BenchMaster is a leading UK manufacturer of workbenches, supplying to many different industries and sectors including schools, medical labs, garages, workshops, warehouses and even to individuals for domestic use. BenchMaster completes the whole process of a workbench fit-out including the design, manufacture supply and installation. The workbenches BenchMaster supplies can be medium duty, heavy duty or super heavy duty and are manufactured from the highest quality materials and are fully customisable, so customers are able to specify the material, size, colour and add any extras onto the bench – the benches come fully welded and built to last rather than flatpack. Whilst workbenches are BenchMaster’s main focus, they also design and manufacture a range of trolleys including tool trolleys, picking trolleys, multi-tier trolleys and storage trolleys.

Throughout these 45 years, BenchMaster has seen many developments in terms of its products and team. A lot of their team have been with BenchMaster for over 20+ years, they’re extremely tight-knitted and know their products like the back of their hands. The quality of the products that this company produces is why they’re still thriving 45 years later – BenchMaster workbenches don’t just last for years, they last for decades. They manufacture their workbenches using only the highest quality materials – it’s very cliche to say their products are ‘high quality’ but it’s 100% true! Don’t just take my word for it though, they recently were contacted by a previous customer regarding their heavy-duty workbench – they purchased it in 1985 and it is still in amazing condition!

There are not many manufacturers of workbenches based right here in the UK, so BenchMaster is proud to represent the North West in being a British manufacturer of quality workbenches. Delivering a unique product that cannot be manufactured anywhere else.

These 45 years of course included the COVID-19 pandemic, which many businesses struggled heavily with. BenchMaster also found themselves struggling, however, they also took it as a chance to help their customers with the development of social distancing workbenches. The BenchMaster team adapted their benches to include a social distancing screen, and this led to a massive project for Teamwork Trust, a charity which supports autistic adults, people with learning disabilities and individuals with mental health needs. BenchMaster manufactured and delivered 87 fully assembled COVID-safe workbench stations in just two weeks. This project was a big achievement for the team, not only because it was a race against time to get such a large quantity of workbenches made and delivered but also because the project was so close to the team’s hearts. The introduction of these new COVID-safe workbenches put some Teamwork Trust members’ minds at ease who were nervous to return following the pandemic and the benches were even the reason some members returned at all. BenchMaster was extremely pleased to provide a safe working environment for this amazing charity and its members.

There’s also been a change of direction in the company due to a management buyout. BenchMaster is still a family-run business, but with a fresh mindset with plans to grow the business in the North West over the next few years. These plans include investing in brand-new machinery, recruiting more staff and developing a bespoke training programme for existing employees. It looks like they’ll be a leader in this industry for a lot longer, and their 45 years of experience is just an ode to what’s to come!
