Mele Luau will premiere July 25th at Coral Crater in Kapolei, Oahu
From the creators of the award-winning international hit show, Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding, and Maui’s long running Huaka’i, A Journey Through Polynesia, comes a new musical love story, Mele Luau Oahu.

Mele Luau follows the epic journey of Tahitian voyager, Tamatoa, on his quest to find true love. His odyssey, of passion and adventure, includes songs and dances from the south Pacific – spotlighting the Ote’a of Tahiti, the Fire Knife of Samoa and the Haka of Aotearoa. The Tahitian paddler makes his way to Hawaii where he celebrates the joining together of Polynesian cultures as this exotic love story unfolds.
Mele Luau is creatively guided by the celebrated Hawaiian choreographers, Kaniala and Melody Masoe, this Polynesian power couple garnered a nomination for the prestigious 2020 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards in the Hawaiian Language Performance Award category, Pa’a Mau. They choreographed the highly regarded luau, “Huaka’i, Journey Through Polynesia, currently playing in the Seascape Restaurant at the Maui Ocean Center now in its seventh season.
Kaniala Masoe, who won Hawaii’s Island Idol voice competition award in 2018, has created an original score for this new musical luau. The Masoe’s spectacular original costumes, representing four Polynesian islands, will be worn by the Oahu cast of Mele Luau.
Acclaimed writer and director, Larry Pellegrini who created Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding with the creative group known as Artificial Intelligence joins Kaniala and Melody Masoe in this unique luau. Together this team has worked on Maui since 2015 presenting cultural activities. This is their first creation for Oahu.
Oahu comedian and radio personality Kaleo Pilanca stars as the emcee in Mele Luau at Coral Crater. Performance Artist Noah Moore adds elements never before seen in a luau.
