Fireworks and lit up ornaments have been celebrated by traditions and cultures of many countries. Celebrations and events worldwide need something that perks up the entire show; for this purpose, candles, fireworks, firecrackers, poppers, confetti cannons, sparklers, smoke bombs and roman candles are famous. The first fireworks were made in China and are the same with Roman Candles, which originate from Chinese Traditions. The event in which fireworks are most adored is the Chinese New Year. Roman candles have been used since centuries and it is still in trend in many formal events. It is the simplest form of a spark candle. Roman Candles is a type of firework mechanism, which shoots stars and massive bursts of colours and light into the sky. It comes in different sizes for every event. Some of the major roman candles burst with a tremendous firework effect, if used a bundle of them at once, it can cause the whole sky to glow with its fires and shades. Massive Roman Candles have comets of shells instead of stars in their tube. On the topmost part, there lies the pyrotechnic star, kindled and then it bursts out of the tube. The candle also consists of black powder. The fuse works up in the tube, fires the lifting charge, and pops up the comet from the other end. The comets and stars burst once they are out of the tube. 

The Dangers of Roman Candles 

Youngsters enjoy being reckless when it comes to fun, and roman candles can be dangerous to some extent if these are in their hands. However, these flaring masterpieces are still banned in some countries. This is due to 

  • The defective working system if one candle has. Roman Candles are not to point on any person can set the person on fire, or cause burnt wounds and injuries. 
  • They are directed towards the sky. The pressure with which the candle burst the stars and shells is extreme. Roman candles have over 1200 C degrees when they combust, and it is hot enough to start a fire. 
  • It can cause accidents and extreme mishaps, if not taken precautionary measures, before lighting it up. Roman candles shoot fireballs basically, which can be hazardous to bystanders if it hits someone. 
  • The candle can shoot more than 6 balls with a small backup time and can get out of control if mishandled. Fires can take up lives and cause painful deaths during the time of celebrations. Such ornaments should be banned to protect lives from nonsense adventures. 

Environmental Problems 

Roman candles having plastic coverings are non-biodegradable, which means they will stay on dump land for years. It takes a long period before they degrade into the dirt and become a part of the soil. The gaseous reactions that take place when the star bursts out turns into smoke and sparks everywhere. It pollutes the atmosphere creating a thick cloud from the collection of the smoke of every Roman candle in the bunch. The firework display looks stunning, but it leaves a bad impact on the atmosphere for so long. The metallic particulates, toxins and chemicals penetrate the environment. People with respiratory problems can trigger asthma due to allergens and dangerous particles.

Roman Candles are brilliant for occasions only if they are handled with care and proper measures. Suggested, not to be used by children or right in front of children. People practising such adventures must remain a safe distance from shooting the candle. Otherwise, they are delightful.
